Tremulus Lune Flashing LED brightness.

Hello,

I've just put together my cobbled together version of the Tremulus Lune tremolo pedal, and I'm loving it, my only issue is that I've put in an LED that's too bright, it was fine in bright daylight before I put the pedal in it's enclosure, but on the floor in a dim room, the bright flashing is a little distracting!

Can I simply swap out R16 for a higher resistance value? I'm just wondering if that will affect the depth pot as at the moment that resister is combined with R18 to give a resistance of 2K to ground?

Or is the simplest thing to find a dull LED, I think I have some about... somewhere!

Thanks

Try a higher value for R16, like 3.3k, see what you get....but at some R value, you'll drop below the LEDs turn-on voltage, or it might not pulse well as is intended.

Then, you'd have to remove R18 as well, and up BOTH of them, which will maintain the voltage divider that you have right now, but would offer the LED less CURRENT and therefore it would be less bright.   If you can easily change both, I'd try putting a 2.2k resistor in each position, which would ~halve the current to the LED, it should then be quit a bit less bright.    Or, as you said, find an old 'clunky' LED rather than a modern super bright.

Odd how that is set up, don't know why they did it that way. Must have been to get it 'biased' down into the range the LFO is operating at so it will rise/fall rather than just be "on", and other circuits might use a pot.

Great, thank you GibsonGM, I'll give that a go and see how I get on.

Many thanks

Change *both* resistors to 3k, 10k, 33k, until happy.

Find a small translucent bottle cap to put over the blinkin' blinder.

Ok, yes, change both - it's a divider, we don't want to mess that up  :)
