I was wondering if it would be possible to integrate a tr606 bass drum (http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4014/4587668268_30c9c6177a.jpg) in a sequencer like this (http://owyheesound.com/img/atari_punk_console.png), so that you can sequence the sound of the bass drum.

That looks good, but i was looking for something more simple... This maybe? http://bofh.literat.us/electronics/sequencer/gate%20sequencer.bmp

can't see that. google 'baby 10'.

frequencycentral

Baby 10 won't work in this instance. It puts out a continuous stream of voltages, whereas for a trigger sequencer (as needed here) you need a stream of triggers with gaps in between.

So this schematic should do what i want? Just add a clock and connect the gate output to the trigger input of the bass drum?

necroposting for interest!

..

also, i suppose the part of the circuit in the dashed box is repeated for the other 3 steps?

no, wait.. why would it... nevermind

and, correct me if i'm wrong.. would the gate out signal be able to trigger any kind of switch? like any ol' press button...

I don't see how that can work at all. The LED's can't light and the clock can't get through to the gate output. Also it will only give 4 steps for your rhythm. Sadly I don't have a good practical example handy to post (somewhere on a backup), although I've made a few. Most of the sequencers on the web select pots for pitch or CV control, not percussion triggers.

This one has the right idea...

Note that the step LED's all connect to a resistor to 0v.  A rotary switch selects the sequence length according to the count output pin fed to the 4017 reset pin.

This is the kind of thing I use. I usually extend it to max 17 steps with another 4017 and add a reset control and a 12way rotary switch to select different maximum step lengths (but that is much more difficult/tedious to draw).

I put together something on the breadboard that was a shift register reading 8 toggles and an arduino triggering the drum (Synsonics, simple 4 voice drum machine from the 80s). Could be way easier and cheaper with a different switch set up than caveman toggles but it worked anyway. The goal is for it to be MIDI sync'd so it plays nice with my other gear, haven't got that far yet, other projects took over, same old story.
