Any problem if I put a mini-voltmeters on Q1&Q2 collectors?

Ok should I understand that I'm overly concerned about these voltages and should just switch away freely?

My understanding from reading different articles was that collector resistors were supposed to be adjusted to stay within the textbook values of 1.3v and 4.5v.

Yeah, the voltages I've seen so far are fine. As there's such a wide range of different setups that will work, you have a lot of tonal options you can work with.

With too low gain silicons or germaniums with too little or too much leakage you may have to adjust Q1's collector resistor. With Q2 depending on Q1, it will get both voltages into the right ballpark.
