Got an issue and I cannot think of why it is NOT working....

Details: Trying to power (2) diffused Blue LEDs in series with a 1K CLR off of a CR2032 3VDC coin cell battery. When I power each LED individually with the 1K CLR, they light up just fine.

Problem: When I try to light them up in series with the 1K CLR, neither of them light up  :(

How they are connected: I have the (+) of the coin cell going to the 1K CLR. The other end of the CLR goes to the anode of LED1. The cathode of LED1 goes to the anode of LED2. The cathode of LED2 goes to the (-) of the coin cell.

Am I missing something here?

Sounds like you simply don't have enough voltage to make both LEDs conduct.  A 3V battery is probably only barely enough for one.  Try them in parallel instead, each with its own CLR.

Ugg.. yep. 3V isn't enough for both  :-\

I put 2 of the coin cells in series with the CLR and they lit up just fine.

Looks like I will need to find out how to pack 2 of the coin cells in there  :icon_cry:

Wherever "in there" is, you can probably fit one more resistor with the single coin cell, can't you?

You could wire-up the two LEDs up with separate resistors and run from the lower voltage.  Series + two batteries will last longer (because you now have twice the number of batteries.)

According to the water analogy of electricity, transistor leakage is caused by holes.

The setup was prepared for wiring the LEDs in series. It was easier to add a second coin cell in series than to change the LED setup.

All is good now though. Working like a champ with (2) con cells in series.

Thanks all!
