I have built up the string ringer (ring stinger) from the V3 build doc here: http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=47423

I've got some fantastic octave fuzz happening, and i can modulate it with the tremolo in some settings.
I can also here the PWM "working? that is I can hear the wave shapes, and can rate / pitch / depth.
I'm not getting any modulation of the guitar signal though.

this is by far and away the biggest project i've attempted.
I used the following substitutions:
LED/LDR - vactrol vtl5c3
s1+2 - alpha 3p4t
R12 + R61 = 470r

I omitted the LFO depth and VCO CV jacks.
for the LFO depth jack, I jumpered together points wires that would normally connect to the ring and tip of the switched jack

my wiring is not the prettiest, but i'm sure it's correct, and i've triple checked for solder bridges.

any thoughts on where I should begin?

Woaah!! What a huge project! I really hope you'll succed! I've tried a much more simpler modulator with a 555 LFO/HFO but turned out as a noise maker. It's fun to play with it though. Good luck on your HUGE project!

Have you used the 680R (R39) and 5K trimmer (LDR Trim)? That's very important for the VTL5C3 to function properly.

thanks Dino, I did use the 680R + 5k trimmer, although i didn't use a multi-turn - would that be worth looking into?

I'll try and sort out some image hosting and put some pics up in the next few days

I don't believe that not having a multi-turn would be a problem, it's not that touchey. I just found that a 5K gets you the best range for the VTL.

All the jumpers in the right place?

Resurrecting an old thread... the build doc I used said 39K for R39, should I have used 680r? I'm not getting modulation in octave mode either...
