How much attention(if at all) do you all pay to the phase of your distortion pedals?

Phase in pedals doesn't really matter, unless one is combining two versions of your signal in some way, and there is a phase conflict.  That conflict could be between what's coming out of the amp speaker and what's coming out of the house P.A. via a mic, or feeding two amps or even two channels on the same amp with different versions of the guitar.  But if it's one guitar signal, I don't think it matters much whether the first movement of the speaker is for the cone to move forward, or move backward.

That said, if all pedals are designed to be in phase with their input, then it's a potential problem you don't have to think about much.

I pay great attention to the design and layout phases, a little less to the build phase, and I no longer pay any attention to the enclosure finish phase.

Sorry but what are we talking about..??

"Phase" by itself simply doesn't exist..!!
(it needs, at least, a reference point to refer on..)

P.S.
Late Saturday night here..

"I don't mind  being taught all the time but I do mind a lot getting old" Antonis the Thessalonian..

The only time i think i've ever really had to think about phase is when incorporating a clean blend into and overdrive or fuzz. If you go through an odd number of inverting stages the output will be out of phase with your clean signal, worth baring in mind

Mostly I don't care too much, but it just so happens that my recent distortion pedal design does preserve phase from one end to the other. But that was more a fluke than a particular effort. I regard it as something to add as an extra little plus point if you can, but I wouldn't go adding an extra inverting op-amp just to make sure a pedal was non-inverting overall.
