50k pot into 25k

Hello, I need some of your wisdom:
I have a couple of pcbs that require a 25k pot for the tone control (one with an A25k and the other with a C25k)
I can't find them, but I have an A50k and a C50k.
I have read somewhere that I can hack the 50k pots by soldering a 51k resistor between lugs 1 and 3.
The inconvenience is that I'd screw up the curve a little.
What do you guys think? Should I go that way?

Im sure I have used a C100k with a 33k resistor between pin 3 & 2 to get close to 25k (24.8k)
