Hi Guys,
I m new here, just starting to build some pedals.

I have built a Les Lius pedal, pcb from Tayda.
The problem i m having is that when the pedal is the only pedal turned on, it is 1. noisy 2. low volume 3. boost not working and diode clipping not working
When I turned on any Overdrive before it, the above problems all gone.
Any clue on what may be the problem?

Thanks!

Vivek

Welcome to the forum !

Please post the schematic you used.

Is it similar to this ?

Vivek

Could you post a color photo showing the 330 ohm, 3k3, 3m3 resistors ?

We can check if you placed correct resistor at correct place

Judging from TAYDA PCB & BOM, it's a single BJT stage gain with hard clipping switching options..
Its boost capability (Gain) is depended both on 3k3/330R and 3M3/guitar output impedance..
(the lower the later the higher the gain..)

P.S.
Welcome, also.. :icon_wink:

Thanks for the explanations.
I am not sure what the problem is...may be the Power supply?

I m very sure that when it is ON alone, it doesnt behave normally. Very low volume when Volume at Max, No response when Boost is on, neither when it is maxed out, No clipping at all. Also very noise in comparison of the output

When a earlier pedal is engaged (I used an EQD Plume, clipping No.1, Gain at min.), the volume is working fine, when the boost is on, clipping is working fine, nearly no noise coming out.

Vivek

Could you please check the value of R2

The BOM says it is 3.3M

That should be Orange Orange Black Yellow Brown

I cannot see colors properly in your photo. I see it as Brown Brown black Yellow Brown

friendly reminder: all holes are positive and have negative weight, despite not being there.

hey guys thank you for helping, just an update of the debugging....
I tried two (relatively cheap) isolated power, the result is the same BUT...when I just power it with a simplest daisy chain "Les Lius"-> DI, it works perfectly...OMG.
Maybe this pedal is very power sensitive? or I need a better power supply unit?

antonis

Try it with a fresh +9V battery...
(all alone.. no daisy chain.. nothing else..)

I'm suspicious of the jack socket wiring. It looks like a wire could be on the switched side of a tip contact so it disconnects when you fit a plug in. I notice these socket types are not as described in the build document.
