Phase 90 clone problem

Hi everyone. I'm building a Phase 90 type phaser and I have a problem. It's almost there but the phasing is more of a pulsing sound than a smooth phasing sound and it's driving me mad. Could it be the LFO? Any help hugely appreciated!

What plan are you building to?
Is it a kit?
Where did you source your components, particularly the JFETs?
Are your JFETs matched?

I'm building it myself from (mostly) the electrosmash schematic. I'm using 2N5457 JFETs that are matched from a reputable supplier (tho' I've written 2N5952s on my schematic.
