how to add LED's to each of these mods?

Power the LED from the 9v source, not after the sag. I still have no idea what the capacitor is supposed to be doing, remove it.

+1 agree. Wired like that, it's trying to blow up is what it's doing!

Let's see what Georg Ohm (with a little help of Gustav Robert Kirchhoff) says about it.. :icon_wink:

+9V - (Lug 2-3)*ILED - CLR*ILED - LEDforward voltage drop = 0 => +7V = (lug 2-3 + CLR)*ILED, considering 2V LED drop..

You can see that LED glow is strongly dependent on lug 2-3 + CLR total resistance..
When pot is set FCW, plenty of current is availiable for LED glowing..
(it's only dependent on CLR value..)

What actually happens with your particular issue is the reverse Voltage Sag pot wiring..
(lug 1 instead of lug 3 placement..)
That's the reason for LED glowing when pot set CCW - you actually set it CW..!!

P.S.1
Instant LED glow is due to 100μF cap discharge..

P.S.2
100μF cap should be reverse wired - positive plate looking to +9v.. :icon_wink:

thank you so much again antonis for your help, not the first time you've been kind enough in helping me see the error of my ways. suppose it was easy to overlook something so simple on the breadboard and just feeling silly that i overlooked it even when plotting it out on the schematic. So thanks a bunch for the time you took in not only helping me out but giving a really in depth explanation to give me a bit more of a technical mind to avoid this from happening again.    works like a charm now!

hmm, well this is embarrassing. While I was able to stop my burning up of pots, I may have jumped the gun on the LED working 'like a charm' as I had initially thought. I moved the tone stack LED's positive leg before the voltage sag pot so it was connected directly to the 9V jack and also got rid of the resistor to ground. I kept and corrected the polarity on the 100uf electrolytic cap on lugs 2 and 3 of the voltage sag pot. So while it now works great and emits while the tone stack is on, what is happening now that while the tone stack LED is OFF and I roll back the voltage sag pot CCW , the tone LED starts to emit slowly in turn with the voltage sag pot going CCW. So its now doing kind of what Antonis had mentioned here...

I used a B10K for the Voltage Starve :)

Does the LED glow when its Cathode is grounded AND pot wiper set at any posistion other than FCW..??

I ditched the 100uF electrolytic cap and the issue still persists so don't think its that. Here is my updated schem and if i'm following antonis' help right, I think I have the tone stack LED parked in the correct place now so i'm hitting another wall why the tone stack indicator LED emits when the voltage sag is set CCW. I also noticed that with the tone stack LED in the circuit, it makes the voltage sag pot act very subtle. When I ditch the LED out of the circuit, the voltage sag acts sonically sound as expected. So I must still be overlooking something and now at a loss even though I would like to think I understood and followed antonis' help, it sounds like he's given me the answer already but i'm still not understanding why I still have this small little issue.

Am I needing to put the 47uF electro cap and the IN4002 diode before the voltage sag pot or am I missing something else?

On the Toine bypass switch, why are terminals 1 and 4 (the top two) connected? I don't see any reason for the LED pole and the tone pole to connect.
I also don't see how that would make anything happen since 4 is another route to power supply.... but still?

thank you both so much. a lot of forehead smacking moments with this build once i could finally stand back from it all and but thank you so much for showing me what i kept overlooking
