Bloody finger massive noise

Built a bloody finger. when i first tested it there was a low volume to it. after a few minutes it sounds like it is osculating real bad. when engaged i have this noise no sound at all. i can't probe it as soon as i turn my probe on the noise is there with out using the probe. 9 v input

The top 5210 doesn't appear to connect for its base. VB has to be higher than VE for NPN - standard, you need to learn that one! Base should connect via a link to a 470k to the lower one's collector. Investigate that.

The 3 unused inverters in the 4049 shouldn't be left disconnected like that - they can generate a ton of noise. Quick and dirty fix might be to short the track cuts to the unused inputs so they are at least connected to the 3 inverters that are used (connect to something is better than nothing). Don't connect the unused outputs, leave those tracks cut! Better is to jumper each unused input to 0v.

the top and bottom 5210 is connected by a 470k . it is hard to see in the pic. it is the 470k left of the 220n.
on the 4049 you want me to  jumper pins 9-11-14 unused  inputs to vss. is this correct?
I have built a lot of pedals, I have learned a lot but still have a lot too learn. I am self taught. everyone here that has helped me has taught me so much.

Check for shorts..

Especially between holes 6 of rows 4 & 5, counting from lower right solder side board corner.. :icon_wink:

after checking for shorts again, i also recut the traces. working fine now. had to be a short.

ok stumped again, board works fine when hooked up to pedal test box. if I box it up the squeal is back.

problem solved. replaced open jacks with enclosed non grounding jacks. all works fine now.
