Grounded vs non-grounded bypass?

I am about to box up a Ge fuzz - battery only with no LED. I would normally use a 3pdt switch wired so that the effect is grounded when bypassed. Am I right in thinking that I really only need a 2pdt for my planned build but the effect won't be grounded when bypassed? Does it matter if it is battery only?

thanks

No, you can do it either way, grounded or not for DPDT. Here's examples:

(Both from the excellent page at: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/how-to-build-it/technical-help/switching-and-wiring/bypass-sw-options/ )

A battery supply is likely to be quieter, it's true. But then again, if you can wire it up so it makes less noise, why not do it?

Thanks. Re the battery - I meant would the non grounded bypass matter less if the pedal is battery only?

Yeah, it matters less. But why not do a grounded bypass anyway, just to make sure?

Try it and see, I suppose.

Thanks again. The GGG diagrams are most helpful!
