Rebuilt from scratch yesterday. Fired up on the first try. Nice sounding compressor. Worth the effort. Thanks again for all the help and patience 😂

..... WHEN the second builds fires right up first bloody go, ......

I'll take that. excellent, now we can all get some sleep. you will of course go thru the working build and take and post voltage measures on IC's and transistors, and at some stage do the comparison to find and explain the fault.

Guys,
great debugging journey, fun to read, thanks!

Have you considered checking the Chuck D Bones upgrade to this schematic?

https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/delegate-warden-upgrades.3044/

Seems it addresses the distortion problem.

I was about to start vero build of an original circuit when found this.
Now not that skilled to put those upgrades into the vero schematic, I really wonder if should I built the original one first or go for the upgraded one?

welcome to the forum rudosuko.

from the first page of that thread, it seems the mod to the phase splitter transistor would be very easy on the vero layout shown all thru this thread.** you really need to find a decent, readable circuit diagram, with part designators prefferably, if you are going to need help with build or debug.

Ad is the expert around here.

** I say this before looking at the vero layout. erk. as ever with vero, a single connection goes all over the board.

Hey what's up rudosuko. First I want to say I don't know your experience with building but when and If you attempt it I'd test all components before putting them in and double and triple check your cuts. It'll save you SO much time in the long run. Having said that, the warden is a great sounding compressor. It will go from transparent to I wouldn't say squishy but gooey maybe?? Concerning the mods if I had to build it again I would definitely do the tone control mod. It's pretty unusable before 2 or 3 o'clock. Maybe it's just me but I've never said to myself "I wish I could cut the highs out of this compressor"  and for the distortion I really didn't have any issues with the working build but it's definitely pushed to the brink of distortion  with sustain and ration maxed out.  I was able to fit into a 125b but it was a struggle. Other than that it's a fun build. I liked building my own vactrol even though it's another variable toward failure and endless debugging. Oh, I would use sockets for the led to try different combinations I used a 5mn white like the layout calls for but would have liked to try different ones in hindsight. I would so go for it and if you run into any problems of course I'll help as much as I can and I'm sure guys like duck and others would chime in as well considering they surpass me by light-years I'm this field. Since I've built the disaster transport jr and the Ghost echo with the belton reverb brick which are also both eqd pedals with Vero builds that sound awesome. Let's us know how it goes.

Wow, guys, I must say that's a warm welcome and pretty solid encouraging here. I appreciate it, thanks!
The Warden is quite complex and challenging one. I already started the original one, I let you know how it'd go and then I'll try to put the modded one into the vero schematics and maybe I'll show you and confront the blueprint with you guys first.

Thanks again, good day!
