Hi all,

Just finished up an Aion IVP built into a stand-alone headshell, works and sounds great. Never utilized a dc/dc converter (CUI brand) in a build before so I'm a little hesitant with the supply side. Stand-alone I use a one-spot delivering about 9.6v, no issues, however I was thinking of running it alongside something like a Deco with the a simple daisy-chain cable. Would there be any issues I may run into given that this guy is working off a dc/dc converter?

Between the inductor, the filter caps and the DC-DC converter, I don't think you'll see a lot of noise propagating backwards into the +9V supply bus from the IVP.  You could check the data sheet for the DC-DC converter you used, but most of them aren't specified for noise in that manner, just downstream noise. The Deco is digital so it might be a source of noise toward the IVP.  Try it and see.  Re: current  draw, the IVP should draw around 50-75 mA, while the Strymon Deco is spec'd for 250 mA, so check those against your power supply rating.

Thanks! Gave it a go with the Deco, no added hum or quirks. The power supply is 1.5a, so plenty of current to go around. I get a little bit of hiss at extreme gain settings, but that happened with my real IVP as well. Since it's in a chassis-style enclosure with flying leads I may upgrade the ins/out to shielded cable at some point, but so far so good. Thanks again!
