Hey guys, I've only ever used switchcraft jacks but thought I'd give the Amphenol kind a try. I'm having trouble figuring out the location of sleeve, ring and tip. Could somebody please point out?

also, you can see the sleeve and its crimp and its spring finger. and it goes on the slant edge. also and, tip is the furthest end part of the plug, so the tip dinger will be the one closest to the outside, open end of the plastic box. and also and, this leaves just the ring dinger, which is on a shorter stick such as it can reach the ring connection on the plug, which sits about half mast.

peer into the dark recesses, and it should all be fairly easy to fathom.

Hi guys, I don't this has been labeled correctly. I tried following the photo with the labels but didn't have any success. Can someone please confirm?

peering into the photo, and using the shadows, you can see that "RING" is obviously sleeve. "TIP" seems further in, so would be ring, leaving only the longest dinger for tip, currently labelled "SLEEVE". if you'd jambed in a stereo plug and put your meter to it, you'd be telling us this instead.

Just a heads-up to note that if you use those jacks mounted vertically on a PCB as they're intended (but which we around here rarely do!) then you have to have a drill-hole under the jack because the tip of at least some jacks extends beyond the back of the enclosure and without the hole, you can't press the jack all the way into the socket. It's a classic gotcha, really!  :icon_twisted:
