Hi,

when I switch to dirt channel of my Fender HDR it make a very loud pop. And I think that isn't normal. I changed the R78 and R79 with no luck.

Anybody can help me?

Thanks!

Mine does that...a LITTLE (not that bad). I wonder if it's a leaky cap in the general area of the relay that switches?  Wonder if C50 on that schematic is the right one, and if it could be going bad.  At least it's a place you can start...

Same should stand for C49, also.. :icon_wink:

If you're in there, might as well do both, of course!  They have a lot of knobs & pot nuts to take off to get at the back of the board and so on.  I need to totally re-cap mine, it's a 2006 and it's time (in addition to a new PT, I think mine is arcing).    How old is the 'mk III'?

I bought mine in 2014. I only recap the filter caps. I'm thinking on recaping all the amp.

I presume you refer on electro caps, only.. :icon_wink:

BTW, it looks weird for C17 to be non-polarized where all other 470nF caps are polarized..
(unless voltage fluctuation across it is significant enough..)

They say you should re-cap about every 10 years.  Some amps go far longer; others don't make the 10 years! I'm sure my HRDx pops and buzzes more than I realize.   When I get around to doing it, I will do ALL electros that I can find!

I can't speak about C17, Antonis, the schematic does not seem to follow a simple pattern for reading and it is taking too long to find it!  :)

Yes, electro caps.

I tried to change C50 and C40 with no luck. But I notice that the plop only appear when I play the guitar, If I didn't play anything the PLOP disappear...

GibsonGM

Did you actually really change the caps, or just 'try' to? Sorry, maybe it's just me, lol.

Mine pops too. I never, ever need to go clean > dirty etc, so it doesn't bother me.  No 'clean' in my world, LOL.  I wonder if it's the relay, maybe it's cheap or something.   You could try seeing what the voltage is across it in each 'state'....I mean, it's either voltage equalizing or a mechanical issue.  If mechanical, maybe one could find a better quality relay?
