I'd like to use the Madbean Cavedweller circuit as a delay-only source.  Would I be correct in assuming that R3 carries the clean signal to mix with wet signal (via R7) at Pin 13, and that lifting R3 would allow clean signal to enter into the delay path, but not be present in the final output?

That's how I see it a as well.

Easier to visualize with this.

Yes, R3 is the dry mix into the output amplifier. Assume you must already have the circuit built or like how it sounds, otherwise, there are more streamlined ways to make a PT2399 basic delay.

Yup, already built.  I was looking for a way to have pre-delay, using two cascaded Madbean Cavedwellers.  Eliminating the dry signal, setting delay time to something modest, and limiting repeats to just one, struck me as a way to accomplish that.
