Hey everyone

Curious if anyone has a book they would recommend on design and building a tube amp.   Looking for something that covers everything from safety (obviously super important) to chasis design and all points in between.   Something I'm interested in looking at but given the safety concerns and costs I'd like to study up on the subject before diving in.  I was looking at design and construction of tube guitar amplifiers by Robert megantz as one option.   Oh and preferably something not written like a text book for electrical engineers.  :)    Thanks all

How about this?  https://www.valvewizard.co.uk/

I learned to design tube preamps from Merlin's site, his book REALLY clarified a lot of the 'lost dark arts' for me!

And he is a member here, too, who answers questions and contributes.

A lot of good archived info here, with projects: https://ax84.com/archive/ax84.com/index.html

Sweet thx for the info.   I'll check it out.

Basically, once you learn to read load lines, off you go.  The rest will seem much more natural and familiar once that's behind you!

If you get Merlin's books you won't need Megantz.  Megantz is a decent intro/primer but Merlin covers all that and much more and in greater detail.  I have both.   I'll second the AX84 site, and check out ampbooks.com as well.   EL34world.com is also a tremendous resource, PRR is a mod there.
Have fun, build a light bulb limiter and always test with one hand in your pocket.

Cheap guitars, homemade amps and garage rock technique.  But I have fun.
