Board mounted pots - what about rock before box? (access)

As I'm building a few pedals now with board-mounted, I'm realizing that once I install those pots, any troubleshooting of my PCB is going to be... trouble. I hate desoldering pots (who doesn't) and did a very thorough visual inspection of my PCB, but now that I've soldered those pots, I'm really hoping my board works the first time.

Am I alone here? I've never seen a pro/con board-mounted vs. chassis mounted thread that addresses this....

I typically use just a dab of solder to make a connection on the pots and then test - being careful not to stress the joints or pads. Once verified I solder properly.

Get yorself a desoldering braid and pump. You will learn that desoldering pots is a joy. Test the circuit before you mount it. There is no need to desolder pots unless they are bad for some reason. Do not overheat them - blow on them.

When you do the hookup, lay the wires so you can tip the board up 90deg without any being too tight. You then have access to both sides to mod/debug.

Wait, why do you have to unsolder the pots to get the board out?  I can't visualize it.

Use a bigger box and connect pots with labelled wires.

You might have to unsolder board mounted pots to get at the solder joints of components on the other side of the board opposite the pots.

Those aren't "board mounted" pots.
