Sorry for another "what's this ?" topic. I hope i can contribute something useful in the future.
But for the meantime ..... what's this?  :icon_confused:
I just got this given today with some other bits and pieces . There's no numbering or ID on the board so maybe it's home etched. But just in case its not a diy thing , I wondered if anyone might recognise it?
It has a tin can CA3080A with a 2K5 trimmer  and of the 5 transistors I can identify 4 of them as BC108 . Maybe a compressor of some sort?
Two pots , one 50k log  and the other is a 500k marked "500k LG AB 7812" . Do you think the 7812 part is a date code of December 1978 maybe?
Thanks in advance and I hope to be competent enough one day to contribute something useful in return .
Cheers

Clues, trying to get it to analyzing state...
An effect would have an input and output jack. Missing these ?
Center lug of the bigger pot would go to the tip of the output jack. Brown wire. Other to a capicitor,  other to ground.
The input jack tip would most likely go to a capacitor maybe 0.1uF, so look for that missing wire.
Power, ID the ground track. Where is the battery plus wire .?
These r my guesses.

Do you know what you're doing?

Judging from where and what everything is, it looks suspiciously like a Dyna Comp clone.

Excellent replies , thankyou Phend and Pacealot.

Thanks for the great walkthrough Phend. It should be easy enough to id the power rails so I'll try your other tips out re. pot connections and caps etc  and see if i can get the little bugger breathing.

And thankyou Pacealot for possibly confirming my initial suspicions of it being "some sort of compressor" .  I'll go have a browse for some Dynacomp schems / layouts etc and see if they throw up anything useful.
This place is an absolute gold mine for newbs like myself , much appreciated.

EDIT:- about 10 minutes later thanks to Pacealots suggestion , the first search for "Dynacomp  + CA3080a" threw up the Electrosmash.com page on MXR Dynacomps and lo-and-behold  the layout on the page looks like it almost matches one to one with my little board

Thanks again so much . Now off to apply Phends' tips and see what occurs  :icon_biggrin:

Cheers peeps
