a "motorboat race" sound -- how to make a circuit that makes just that?

Hi,

I always thought I loved "the" motorboating effect... but turns out that it's like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGX8efecAgs

monotone, idle...

So, instead, I'd like to have an effect that sounds like a motorboat race...
round and round... and round and round... slowly...
with a Doppler effect, cyclically -- so to speak :)
and monotonously...

Here is a sample, it starts right at the beginning:

I'd like to build a circuit which produces "that" sound...
I turn it on, and there it goes :)

Could you suggest me a schematic?
It would be great if the frequency could be adjusted...

I'd appreciate any help! :)

PS:

I've just tried amsynth, and it's pretty much it straight away! :)

But of course I'd love an analogue circuit...

Do you wish to build an effect working by its own (a.k.a. signal generator) or driven by external signal source..??

For the later, it should be adequate an op-amp driving a heavy load (possibly via a power transistor), biased via a high value resistive divider (preferably without filter capacitor) fed by an unregulated power supply..

Well, perhaps you could build a simple analog synth to create the sound? Have a look at the MFOS Weird Sound Generator, for example:

You could also look into "Lunettas", simple synths built mostly with CMOS logic chips.

Try to build any circuit using an LM386 into a small enclosure, it will do that...   :icon_mrgreen:    (joke)

To my eternal shame I've never built one, but you may be able to get close with an Atari Punk Console.

have a listen to the above file - it may be gorn after 14 days. it is reworked psycholfo or cacofinator or something, a load of linked and tremmed 40106 oscillators. let me know if it sounds like a boatrace.
