Cross Legs ?

Hello:
2N5306 and BC169B transistors have pinouts E C B.
As opposed to the "standard" E B C.

The circuit calls for the E C B transistors but are drawn as a typical transistor symbol.
Question: Should the legs be crossed when the actual ECB transistors are used ?

Schematic symbols don't care about pinout. It's the layout that determines which pinout is required. It is okay to cross the legs to fit a different pinout as long as there's no risk of short circuit.

I had a forehead slapping moment when I first realized that the little bits of insulation I stripped from hookup wire could easily be slipped over transistor leads to make lead bending much more reliable in-circuit.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Yes, great tip, have used bits of insulation before on Ge transistors with those long leads. Yesterday I Bent up two 2N3904 (without insulation) and then cut short to fit in the box. Not such a great way, so today I took a new 2N3904, put insulation on the three legs with enough lead to go into the socket. The trick is Not to Bend, but to twist the two BC legs, works slick, insert into socket and using forceps grab and bend a little to fit in under the cover. Neat job.
