A fun one knob fuzz based off the opamp Big Muffs

I don't hop on here much, and I only mess with circuits when I get the bug in me to do so, but I figured I would start sharing some of the stuff I'm proud of. Not that I do anything special, I just tweak for fun  ;D

I'll start off with a simple IC based fuzz that makes it sound like my amp is imploding.

It began as a breadboard of an opamp Big Muff with a TL072 and 71. I kept swapping parts, then changing them back.

Most of the circuit is the same as the schematics online at its core, but I ended up removing the sustain and tone controls. I then changed the bias of the 071 a bit which seemed to improve the amount of fuzz, and removed the diodes and cap from the clipping section. A handful of cap changes to change its sound a bit; and I ended up with raw slammed opamp fuzz.

Great for wall of sound doom, and cleans up nicely with the volume rolled back. Doesn't get lost in the mix either.

Schematic is laid out for ease of converting to PCB in Diptrace with the way I wire.

Art wise, I just printed on clear sticker paper, which is just terrible. My next build I used waterslide for the first time.

I drilled for the pot a bit to high for the way I laide out the board and had to bend the prongs on the DC jack for it to fit.

Tried to get the board as small as possible when I had little to no experience laying out a PCB.

Here is a sound sample with some drums and bass thrown behind it.

Starts off with the volume rolled low on a Soloist with Duncan Distortion pickups, on the neck, then volume rolled up on the neck, then bridge. Played through a Marshall Origin 50 head with the EQ dimed, tilt at 2 o'clock (brighter), presence and gain at noon. Routed from FX loop out through my interface into my DAW and running that through a Marshall 2x12 cab sim with Two Notes Genome, and using their Twin Tracker for some width. Threw some compression on the overall track to bring up the volume, but otherwise no mixing other than leveling.
