Adjusting the threshold in an Orange squeezer.

Hello, fellow DIY-ers.
I have an Orange squeezer build that I would like to tweak a bit.
I really like the basic functionality and sound but find that the sweet spot for the amount of "squeeze" is with the volume pot of my guitar backed to roughly 8, i.e. the threshold of the stock squeezer is a bit
too low.

As the squeezer has plenty of gain to make up for the somewhat lower input gain, I see two ways around this (as I want to be able to keep the volume on the guitar dimed):

1: Put a pot on the input, either similar to the basic output volume (lug 3 to input, 2 to circuit, 3 to ground) or wired as a variable resistor. If so, what would be an appropriate value for the pot? It does not have to lower the input a great deal and could probably be a set-and-forget trimmer.

2: The threshold control from the Orange smoothie (see pic).

Which do you think would be preferable?

Hi & Welcome.. :icon_wink:

Brute and easy way is to replace R1 (4M7 anti-pop reistor) with a 1M pot..
(Lug 3 to Tip, lug 1 to GND and wiper to C1..)
