First Klon build/mod. Is this the right way to wire the switch?

Hoping to get some advice. Is this the best way to wire a switch in a Klone Centaur circuit to basically boost the gain? It's based on soulsonics extra gain mod but I made it a switch between the stock circuit and the modded circuit. This is my first time modding pedals so I want to be sure I get it right before I start building.

Hi & Welcome.. :icon_wink:

Yes, it should be OK..
(maybe with a little popping due to floating caps but it's easily remedied with the use of 1M or so grounding resistors..)

You DO know the Klon is not a distortion or overdrive pedal, right?  It was designed to push a tube amp into pleasing overdrive, and not to produce an identifiable overdrive tone of its own.  If you had ever ordered one directly from Bill Finnegan himself, he would have chatted with you for about 20-30 minutes to identify what sort of rig you were using, and whether the pedal might (or might NOT) benefit you.

I already have a JRAD Archer Ikon that I use as an overdrive pedal and it accomplishes what I need. Whether is was Bill's intention or not, it's a solid overdrive.

@minuscaseus: I think your manners are a bit abrupt..  :icon_mrgreen:

Pardon me in case I'm wrong.. :icon_redface:

Not to worry.  It can be hard for me to assess what newer members do or do NOT know.  I'm as capable of overshooting or undershooting as anyone else here.

Bill had sent me two ungooped boards to work on something for him with, back in 2007.  Terrific build quality, and a fascinating design, but I was unimpressed with it as an overdrive pedal.  Doesn't really have a particular "sound".  Best customer testimonial Bill ever got (and inserted into one of the few ads he ran in Vintage Guitar) was one person who said "It sounds like my amp, only BIGGER."

Thanks for the welcome and I appreciate you taking the time to look things over. Where would you recommend I put the 1M resistor to ground? On the switch itself?

(P.S. I apologize for not replying sooner. I didn't see your reply earlier.)

It will make no practical difference, as long as those resistors are connected (either directly or via a series resistor) on respective caps floating leg.. :icon_wink:

An easy and convenient way is on switch lugs 3 & 1..

P.S.
Those resistors should affect gain slightly but only for RVA set at full resistance..
