Green Ringers at GEO...which one???

THere are two schematics side by side there, both dated 1998.
 The 'Left one, [has a .1uf coming off the collector]
 The 'right' one [has the .1uf coming off the emitter]
 Does anyone know what the differences in the way these two fuction are???
 I don't know which my first GR [scavenged[ was, but it didn't produce unity level compared to bypass.
 Any references, comments, suggestions??
