oh man....

the 2SB54 that I bought a while ago , was the only last Ge for sale..... :evil:  :evil:  :x  :x  looked for other stores but havent found any....

this really sucks.... and I really needed only 1 Ge tranny more..... :cry:

I dunno of old TV circuits have those.... :wink:  

tsk....

Anyone out there?? I can get 2N7000 fairly easy( for the obsidian)...

Go to http://www.smallbearelec.com/HowTos/FuzzFaceFAQ/FFFAQ.htm and read what Steve has to say about germania for FF use. He has a list of part numbers.

In particular, some of the Asian part numbers might be easier to locate in your area.

I've had very good results with those in particular, too.

Something else to try for a fuzz with a single germanium is the Angry Beard III.

This is just my opinion, so take it FWIW if you want.

Jimi used a Ge FF pretty much until 1970.  To me it sounds like germanium even at Woodstock.  

On Axis, though, he used a specialized circuit, now called the Axis Fuzz, which uses common NPN silicons.

guys, what is the Hfe of 2SB54?? cant seem to find those on the web....
