LINEAR OR LOG?

Would it be OK if I use 100K log pots for all the pots in the Insanity Box?

You can always substitute linear for log taper pots and the circuit will work the same, but the control will not be as good.

Sound is measured logrithmicly, so if you use a linear taper in a place that is controling volume, you will have poor control at the quiet end. Picture the controls this way:

Volume control with LOG pot:0    1    2    3    4    5    6    7    8    9    10

Volume control with LIN pot:0   4   7   7.5   8   8.4   8.7   9.1   9.5  9.7   10

It will work for testing, but I would change the pots out for the proper taper before putting the screws in. :)

If the taper bugs you you can always go with the other type.
 Taper never bugged me that much because a 100k pot Audio or linear goes from .0k to ~100k, just that sometimes much of the percieved range will be bunched up at one end of the shaft travel. You can still find and have and hold your sweet spot as the R range is basically the same with a or l types, just takes a tweekey hand if that sweet spot falls on the 'fast' side of the taper...
