Hey.  Thanks in advance to anyone reading.  I'm a rookie builder, so bear with me....

I just finished the cerulean by Aion Fx.  the pedal works except for two problems.  (I'm not sure if/how they are related.)  It's a bluesbreaker/morning glory style circuit with a bright switch.  with the bright switch in the up position, the pedal sounds fine and seems to work as it should.  in the middle position, i get a guitar signal, but there's a high pitch hum in the background.  in the lower position, i don't get any guitar signal, just a constant gurgling-type sound.  The other problem is that there is a really loud, thumpy noise when i switch the pedal on and off.  I have read about a noise when you switch on true bypass pedals, but i've built a few others before, and none has made anything near this type/volume of noise when i switch them on or off.
I'll attach the schematic and a page about the version/mods i did.  Any help?   Thanks!!!

Nice looking build!  Is that a wooden box with a copper lining?

Note 3 on the build notes:  When you equip the output gain stage (Q1), leg 1 of the Volume pot has to go to ground rather than V/2  (Vref).  That ground is the extra hole, just above the normal hole for leg 1 of the Volume pot. Upper right of the PCB, just to the right of C11, rightmost leg of the Volume pot.

oh man.  thanks!!
i read that, but i thought that was pertaining to a different mod than i did.  i should have checked with someone here before i messed it up.
what should i do?  should i try to suck the solder out of that leg and try to bend it back with the other two legs still attached?  or should i try to detach all three legs?  i never have luck getting something out that i've put in.  any suggestions?

also, do you think that is causing both problems?  (the popping when i switch the pedal on and off, and the gurgling noise/no signal when the bright switch is down)?

mtdelcon

Solved!!!

That was it.  It took me a bit to desolder and bend that leg, and it isn't a pretty job, but both problems are solved.  Next time, I'll check with someone with more experience before i assume I understand something out of my comfort.

Thanks so much!!

Good job!   ;)  Experience helps us avoid mistakes, but the best way to gain experience is by making mistakes. I've been there.

that enclosure looks super odd and interesting, could you elaborate and/or post more pics?

cheers, Iain
friendly reminder: all holes are positive and have negative weight, despite not being there.

cheers
