Have you seen this?

It goes in the FX loop of the amp. Does this make sense? Isn't it just like cranking the channel's volume pot in my amp, and then lowering the master volume?

I think it makes no sense to use this in a tube amp with master volume, as power tubes DOES add a lot of color to the sound of an amp.

I would call that eBay description dishonest and misleading.

IMO, the best tube tones come from having ONLY the power tubes overdriven with all the other stages overdriven less if at all.

so that's just a volume pot in a box, right?

the description is ridiculous and completely misleading, but other builders  are charging a whole lot more for essentially the same thing (with the addn. of a stomp switch).....

which is what's he's selling here for $25.

again, the description is preposterous, but the fact remains that other folks are charging 3x that for the same thing (but God only knows what kinda components he's using at those prices).

All that box is doing is adding the crappy-sounding single-1M pot in between the preamp and power amp like the stock master volume that came in the late-70's Marshalls...it doesn't sound very good...

If you want good attenuation that won't fry your tubes like the hotplate and such, use a good post-PI dual-master volume like the Ken Fischer one...it sounds very smooth and if you play your amp with the master at about 3/4 the way up, you get a good balance of preamp/power amp that sounds natural, but doesn't kill the audience...

Oh yeah I've seen that thing before. It has been disscussed else where and the general concesence was that the auction was highly overstated and the product was nothing special.
