Hi,

My fuzz-face is doing some funny noise with the wha -wha in the low position ,feedback stop when i reduce the gain on the fuzz .It's only with this FF clone ,it's a silicon With a BC 109c and a BC 108 in the first postition. If i try the FF whitout wha in fdront it's ok.
It's my first FF with silicon,no RF signal and a nice sound but i don't understand!
Thank you in advance for your suggestions,
Bruno

This is normal for a FF and a wah.  It is caused by a impedence mismatch, basically the wah pot is shorted out by the FF.

To help this, you need to buffer the output of the wah or input of the FF.  Go to fuzzcentral.tripod.com and click on the McKoy wah page.  There is a little circuit that you need to make, and it will cure this problem 100%.

Go to www.foxroxelectronics.com and look for the Wah retrofit, or the FWR.  It has a better explaination of why this happens, and the FWR is probably very close to the circuit at Fuzz Central.

Hi,
I understand what you mean if the wha is put after the fuzz face , the wha has less effect due to impedance mismatching, you're right if there is germ in your fuzz face ,it's because of that Jimi Hendrix put his wha after the fuzz facebefore the silicon's fuzz face do exist. With silicon transistors you can put your wha before the face(look at David Gilmour Pink Floyd at Pompeï
vidéo or last hendrix vidéos the wha is before the face with no problem.)
My last Fuzz Face is silicon,my wha  a VOX (i had change of model with the same problem)with the pedal push up ,sound is OK ,but when i pull down ,a feedback  appears ,i try to change the transistors with the same result, maybe it's a wiring problem, but if you got another idea ,i'm your man,
Thank a lot

I don't think Si or Ge transistors matter.  My Ge FF and Si FF both produced this sound - the Silicon version more so.  You might want to try putting a 50K pot wired as a variable resistor in line with the input of the FF or the output of the wah.  This is probably what Hendrix did.

The best solution is the buffer at http://fuzzcentral.tripod.com.  You will not be disapointed with this.  It only costs about $2 in parts too.
