howdy . i haev a ts5 which i am in the process of modding and i did the brown mod and the resistors in for the 808 mod and i put in a IC socket and all my solders seem to be soild, but now it has to over drive i can turn the drive knob all the way down and the sounds the same as all the way up. has anyone had this happen beforei sitll have the old IC in it cause i ha vent gottan the new one, at first i thought it was happening becasue one of hte solder points on the IC socket was touching something else but i cleaned that up and nothing changed and i looked and laot of the factory solders sort of touch each other. so im real confused on what i did.

Check your solder joints around the drive pot.  If you have a solder bridge on the pot, or where the leads connect to the PCB, that would certainly do what you have mentioned.  Also, double (and triple) check the resistors that you added for your mods.  If you "subbed" in the wrong value, your circuit could be overdriven regardless of the drive setting.

I know, pretty vague stabs at your problem, but it may give you something to look for.

Good Luck,

Sounds like a solder problem when you put the IC socket in. Check the IC socket first.
