noise in MXR dynacomp

I built the MXR dynacomp from the geofex layout, and there is a bit of noise, (sort of a quiet hiss) when not playing, and I realize that this is inherent in this circuit, I'm thinking of swapping out the carbon comp resistors (this was the first pedal I built a long time ago, and I just used the parts numbers in R.G.'s article) with metal film, but frankly, I've never been able to tell a difference between metal and nonmetal resistors in my circuits - maybe I'll build a second one and A/B it.  I don't know.  But I was just curious as to how much noise I should expect - I have fairly high-output humbuckers but I don't imagine the guitar itself is that noisy - but I'll try with some different guitars.  But I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a sound-clip of a dynacomp to get an idea of how much background noise to expect from this circuit.  I searched the archives and saw the issue addressed a few times, but I'm uncertain from reading those posts how much is too much.

Which is built on the same board as the MXR Dyna.
 I just finished it yesday, and it's noise floor is pretty low, I had anticipated the possibility of a higher noise floor.
 Compressors inherently accentuate hiss.
 I'm using CA3080's from Small Bear, and salvaged the 3904's [nice big blue printed ones] from the Old Heath Component checker.
 Not having yours here I suspect that a lower noise floor is possible from your descript of it/ You could try changin any socketted actives...I used 5% 1/4w resistors.

Yesterday I fired up the Ross [uses same board as Dyna] compressor, and it's noise floor is what I would say Low. I expected possible higher noise floor [hiss] inherent in compression ckt. [more or less].
 From your descrip the noise floor is higher [and could be lowered] ...
 I used 5% 1/4w resistors, you could try substitutin any socketted active somponents [IC or Tranny's].
 I don't know what exactly the added resistors and slight value changes between the Ross and Dyna do in terms of functional perfomance, I assume they're fairly similar, I went with the Ross 'cause it's bout the same work for me to grab a resistor as it is to prepare a wire.
