Hello!

im new here and im hoping someone can help me out. I recently bought an EHX micro synth, one of the reissues. Dispite being a wicked effect, it unfortunately has one of teh worst bypasses i have ever heard and until its sorted, the pedal cant really be used live....

My problem is that, being in the uk, i cant find anyone to carry out a true bypass mod on it. Hence, im trying to perform it myself but, not being all that experienced with this sort of thing, i have got a bit stuck. I understand the principal behind true bypass and have instructions for a generic mod but im stuck here. I cant identify board in from board out, etc... Ok, im lame... HOwever, there is already a 3pdt installed in teh pedal so thats a start....

Anyway, would anyone here be able to help me out? Any information (the more simple the better) would be great... Schematics, instructions, anything...

Cheers guys

There's already a 3PDT installed? Huh?
There should be an SPDT in there. How's the 3PDT wired?
A basic understanding of what goes where is needed for this, maybe a picture would help, but let's start with how the 3PDT is wired.
IF it's wired for non-TB with LED (why on eatrth use a 3PDT for that) this is going to be the same as with the SPDT.

Basically (if you're not sure about this, wait until we've seen a pic plz) you want to find out what the switches orientation is when it's "on". The middle wire goes to the output (Wire A), and a continuity test (need a digital multimeter here) will let you know what the wire to the circuit's output is (Wire B).
Remove the other wire (remember where it came from though! You never know)
Remove the wire from the input jack to the PCB, carefully noting where that actually goes on the pcb. Replace it at the pcb with a longer wire (wire C) (you can use the old one if it can reach the switch but I don't think so)
Now, if there's a 3PDT in there, ignore one row and look at just a "DPDT" (check with your new meter which terminal switches to which terminal - if it's a Fulltone switch it'll have the switches oriented vertically, if the little individual lugs are oriented horizontally, so:
_
_
_

is one switch.
A DPDT the looks like this (ignore the underscores):
1_6
2_5
3_4

Wire it like this:
1 to 6
2 to input jack tip connection
3 to ckt input (wire C)
4 to ckt output (Wire B)
5 to output jack tip connection (wire A)
6 to 1

Volia.

cheers for the quick reply. Yes, there is indeed a 3pdt switch in there. Weird i know, especially as only one of the poles is being used in teh same way an SPDT would be used (i expect). Anyway, i'll check it out tonight and try to either get a picture or write down the wiring as i cant remember it off teh top of my head.

Thanks again
