Any suggestion for 2-3 band eq control for the simple Little Gem? I saw one here made by javacody but it looks slightly above my skill level (still a newbie), it has a transistor (finding transistors here is a pain) and according to him, he didn't like it that much. I may not too, either.

Thanks for any help
Oh yeah!

Zener, it actually had a JFET and if you add a tone stack to the little gem, you will need to have at least a buffer in front of your tone stack. The biggest problem is how much gain you lose when you implement a tone stack. The tonestack I have now works, I'm just not used to the treble pot cutting bass so dramatically. It took me a little while to tweak the knobs to get the sound I was looking for.

You could also do a transistor based buffer or an opamp based buffer.

For details, see the amz basic buffers page

I also thought that this was above my skill level, but the people here at the forum are excellent at guiding those of use new to the hobby. If you build the thing one piece at a time (for instance, first build the gem, then the buffer, and then add your tone stack in) it really lends itself to learning and the results are good.
