which is the more desirable of the two Boss CE2's?

....I have two Boss CE2's....both have no serial numbers anywhere;one has a green label on the bottom,the other a black label...they both pretty much sound the same-my basic question is,which one would be the older of the two-and which would be the one you would keep if you were to choose one to give away?....(I'm planning on giving one to a friend for christmas).....thanks!......dr......

If you look on Harmony Central in the effect database, there is a lot of info on the pedal in the review section. One version is preferred and maybe worth a lot more. That will be the one to keep.

If memory serves me correctly, black covers are made in Japan, and green covers are made in Taiwan. The Japanese versions tend to sound better than their Taiwanese counterparts.  

Just my 2 cents.
