Hey guys, how do you record those sound clips posted everywhere. Is there any special app you use? Or its just guitar-fx-soundcard? I would like record my own because I'm having a problem and I would like anyon to hear it themselves. My Maestro Super Fuzz from GGG has turned into Maestro SUPER BUZZ  :? . http://www.diystompboxes.com/sboxforum/viewtopic.php?t=16830

Thanks for any help

runoff groove speaker simulator  into line in...  digital echo. or reverb from computer

cheap ass way i have done it once or twice.

guitar ..  fx....  zoom 9000s..  set for Clean No eq little reverb little delay sometimes.  speaker sim and out through the microphone jack

record it on a mini recorder.  like the boss multitrackers.  and then upload it straight into the mic jack

forgot to add i just dump it to whatever media recorder is on whatever computer i am at.  mostly just windows media. but lately i have made sure to record the file at cd quality  or better

Plugging directly into the sound card on your computer will work, but will not give you very good quality. Add a decent preamp just before the sound card. I've gotten good results with ART TubeMP and PreSonus BlueTube preamps. Most sound cards expect a line level signal. So, you want something that will boost the signal without coloring it too much.

For recording software I use SONAR and Soundforge. But, for simple sound clips, something as simple as Windows Sound Recorder might be fine.

Normally I go from the line out of my Marshall prototyping amp into my computer's soundcard.  I get decent quality, but at lower volumes you can hear the computer fan.

Gets fair results,
For better I understand having a great A/D audio digital conversion sound card on the puter and these guys seem to like their tube compressors. Course better Mic always helps.
I'm at the 'fair' level. and finding so far getting a great tone on tape is every bit as hit or miss/trial and error as getting a great tone on guitar. Quality and quantity of equipment to quality of sound and effects ratio is probably about constant for both guitar sound and recording guitar sound.
I was told...Good Mic, Good sound card...gets pretty good results.
I think for fairness the sounds at Runoff Groove are all  done mostly with the same type recording? for fair comparisons.
So first I must improve on the Soundblaster Card, I have an EV 757 [pretty hot mic], the tubes in audio path would be the next thing I would choose to try.
Beyond that it becomes more involved than I can  expound upon in detail but things like wavelab and other sound programs seem to be popular, basic recording techniques like mic placement etc.
Then you get into line recording [no amp / mic]... ...so far that sounds too buzzy to me...many ppl swear by it but I uh ... still use the mic.
