So I got face to face with the beast  :)  ( www.tonepad.com ) Seriously: Today I plugged it in to my SB-live line-in and whoa! this must be one of the best pedals I've ever played with. There is however some problems->

* Quite a lot of noise with settings: Amp: California/Tweed, all pots turned to max.

* Strange clicks

Materials I used:

Transistor: BC550C (this might be the problem, not sure about the pinout)
IC: TL072 * 4 ( I read TLC2262 substitutes for IC 2&3 would help)

So much for the words -> I sampled wav files for you to analyze..

not sure about the 'plinking' sound...
but the noise sounds like a guitar that got too close to a computer monitor (my old Jackson with screaming active electronics would BUZZ within 5 feet of a monitor)

In my experience :wink: The GT2 is noisy... as much as the original but you must not play it full tilt (i.e. all pots turned to max). If you use "normal" settings, the noise equals the original amp models'.

I strongly recommend using TLC2262CP chips for IC2, IC3 and IC4. Keep the TL072 for IC1.

I had an affair with those "plinkings" too when I was using TL072s. It happened to be a faulty chip... go figure!

That is not an advised setting for the GT2. You may be able to find some sample settings at the Tech 21 site. I have used the Tech 21 GT2 for about as long as it's been available, and I can't think of any instances where I've found ANY of the pots maxed to be a useful tone.  Don't know about the clicking...

This might be the case. I actually mounted one IC incorrectly as I debugged and it got slightly overheated. Temperature range (ST datasheet) should be 0 - 70 C.
