Hello everybody !
I recently bought a Marhall 30th Anniversary amp (it's great  :D ), and i would like to build my own reverb pedal to plug on it. I'm searchin for Electro Harmonix Holy Grail type reverb, or anything similar, with a digital rendering, with analog-digital processor. Thanks for your help  :)

I think the easier reverb that you can build is a reverb driver for a reverb tank. You will need a reverb tank too :P. Analog reverbs are very hard and complicated to build, and I think digital will be more hard and complicated. A suggestion, buy a digital reverb unit and plug it in the effects loop of your amp.

Bad news on the Holy Grail, man.  The street talk has it that this baby used (uses?) a proprietary chip that isn't available to us mere mortals.

:( oh I thought it was possible
I know it's difficult to build analog pedals, but if you have some schematics...

I'm using a Boxx RV3 [reverb echo] not bad, couldn't live without it or something like it...
I'm pretty much with Munky on spring reverb, but would add a simple [or not so simple] echo or delay to it, and use a little of each for the reverby type  sounds.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Hmm I still have that old reverb tank lying around. But I'm worried that I'll fry the coils :? What's the safest way of making a spring reverb with a reverb tank that is anonymous. No info anywhere of its impedance or anything :(
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

You can build a delay with the PT2399 IC, it's the easier thing that you will find for a delay. I know that isn't reverb, but with some settings you can get a cool sound. Check Tonepad.com for the Rebote2 Delay. Or maybe use a phaser to give a "color" to your sound.

 That reverb question pops up often, and I think guys said the truth, it is not easy to make a *good* reverb pedal, which youll find out. But how about a delay? It can give some space to your sound, slightly different way

Really not possible ? Even the type of chop used or something else ?
Thanks for your replys !

The bigger question you want to ask yourself is where you want to fit reverb into your signal chain.

Ideally, reverb sounds "best" (defined as most natural) when it is tapped from the signal early on, and blended in at the last possible insertion point.  Pushing a reverb unit, then feeding that into an amp with the channel gain cranked and the master volume down is not going to yield the most blissful reverb.  It will be interesting-sounding, I suppose, but unlikely to be the pleasing spacious wash most folks want reverb to be.

If the amp has a patch in point (effects loop) between preamp and power section, that allows you to combine an external signal with the preamp (i.e., you can use the "receive" jack without having to use the "send"), you are in luck.  If whatever reverb-generating device you have can send a separate reverb-only output (not just a dry+wet mix), send that to the receive jack and you will have a more pleasing-sounding reverb.

If I got the tank working I'd put it before my amp, I don't use the distortion on my 10W practice amp. :D
