Big Fuzz Problems - Fresh member

Oy all, I'm new to this forum and stomboxe building. My first project is the Big Muff from http://home.zonnet.nl/osbruil/index.html (also named dallas arbitor). I have finished building it, but all I get is a fair amount of buzz and a faint clear sound, as if my amp or guitar volume was turned down to 2 or 1. Turning the vol and "fuzz" pots doesn't have any effect (no pun intended), tho they do function as I've tested them on another circuit. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I've looked around the forum for a while but couldn't find anything...

You don't get any effect from the "volume" control?  No?  Seems that your signal has met an early demise in the circuit.

I suggest you build an "audio probe" as described in various threads in this forum.  It'll help you find how far thru the circuit the signal is getting.  In particular, check the base and collector of each transistor for a live signal.

Also, it is very handy for us to know what the voltages are on the base, collector and emitter of each transistor.  That'll sort out 99% of problems associated with transistors.

Well, thnx for the help. I built the audio probe and figured out it was a defective stompswitch issue. I tried it with a rocker switch and it works just fine, and since I never really planned to use the pedal (only once in a while for fun), I'm gonna leave it in.

So, basically, moving on to another project. After trying the fuzz pedal my bro suggested I'd have fun building a Rat Well see what that does.
