hii,
i read gefex article, i just want to b sure that i understand how to make this expression pedal.

so i go buy a volume pedal, modify it so that i use only the pot that is inside it.

so the expression pedal is just a pot????  so will it work on zoom 505??

and i read something about it can b stereo or mono, what type is the 505??

Try looking at the original expression pedal in the shop... I think that it'll be a stereo jack with the three conductors being directly linked to the pot, but I don't know the pot value, or what part of the jack connects to what. Maybe the shop people will let you open one up ;)
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Hey there I did rig up an expression pedal for a 505 once. basically its a stereo jack and each of the bits (ring tip sleeve) will got to one of the lugs on the pot. I think the pot was either 10k or 100k linear. I think one of the reviews on the harmony-central website is by someone who made their own and he has the pot value or just do a web search if no one else can tell you. my only a word of advice is that the pitch bending is not worth the effort and neither is the wah (IMHO). But if there is something else you want to play with go for it!!

Try getting a broken wah or volume pedal off ebay (i used a friends broken wah)

that's what i found,  so does that mean the volume pedal's pot value isn't important?? (coz this article didn't mention anything about the pot value)

No, the value isn't important - it only acts as a control voltage divider.

I prefer the Digitech RP50/100 method, which just uses two conductors to the pot - cunning. It seems to "know" what the total resistance is, but sometimes you have to operate the pedal once through its full range in order for the RP100 to recognize that it's there.

I bought a cheap stereo volume pedal and wired each channel up to my RP100 and BP50 to give whammy/wha or even whammy/whammy (with different ranges). You can get some wild sounds out of that!
