I've got this amazing geramanium transistor fuuzzface wich was made for me buy this tech in Aus. It sounds ridiculously good. problem is the power supply. I can't hook it up with the rest of my pedals because it shorts.
Somebody told me why once, but I was hoping someone would know a way around the problem. It's a pain in the a*se to have to take it off my board every night and put a new battery in it.
Also, if you could look at my ground loop question I will name my first born after you in gratitude.

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand your query.

Are you trying to run the FF from an external (mains) power supply? Or are you experiencing fast battery drain?

A FF should last a long time on battery power, unless it's got a hot LED or something.

If the problem is that you can't run the FF with the same power supply as the rest of your pedals, that's because it's probably a PNP positive ground design.

I don't like running FF's from wall warts, especially germanium ones. They're just too sensitive to voltage and ripple.

Isn't the resistance of the battery part of the FF circuits sound anyway.
I tried PS's...no way...well maybe super filtered and regulated..I use a battery, and a switch on the pot to turn the power on and off.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

The problem is that when you use a daisy chain to supply power to a bunch of pedals, that it won't just use one of those conectors.
I think it is as you say just being the pnp transistor ( like I know what that means)
It absolutely does sound different with a power supply. Don't get that eiether. The sound is totaly worth the fiddle with the battery, I just want an easy life.

Battery life is usuallly quite long in a Ge Fuzz Face. I use carbon batteries, and they last forever. Are you actually draining a battery during the course of a gig? That ain't right.

I haven't seen the original but I know that a DIY FF can have a positive ground (where the +9v creeps). That could be the reason why it shorts with the rest of your pedals which have negative grounds.

Check this site to see what I'm talking about.

If my suspicion is right, you may try converting it to a negative ground or stick with the battery. If the negative wire from the battery snap and the input jack are properly wired, you can leave the battery inside and it won't run out. Inserting a plug into the input serves as a switch for the battery.

Regarding ground loops, I'll just direct you to an article that would explain everything and a suggested pedalboard.

You can have my name for your first born  . It's quite unique. It's my true name, given to me by my father after the diode  .
Oh yeah!
