Hey all, Does anyone know of a easy to find substitute for IC SAD1024A. Thanks for the help.

In the GEO faq linked to on the top of your screen:
No subs for SAD1024, but they're easy to find.
SmallBear electronics is more or less our house-supplier, and carries them. Steve ships all over the world. Yes, it's not a cheap chip but them's the breaks.

Mike is absolutely correct on all counts.

There IS no pin-for-pin second source for SAD1024 chips, except for mayyyybeeeee *some* SAD512's, which are even rarer.  (Reticon briefly marketed some 16-pin versions of the SAD512, which were essentially SAD1024's with only one set of 512 stages guaranteed, a bit like the old floppy diskettes that were guaranteed to be functional but could be converted to double-sided to double capacity.  These are NOT the same as the SAD512D which was a very different 8-pin chip.)

The MN3207, BL3207 and MN3007 also have 1024 stages of delay like the SAD1024 and are all available through various sources (although the BL3207 is the only one actually in production).  While the differences between these and the SAD1024 can be compensated for so that they can be made to work in a circuit normally using a SAD1024, it will not be an easy or simple task.  The difference in price between these chips and the SAD1024 is small, compared to what it would take you to make them work in its place.
