I now have 5 effects pedals in my set up that are all true bypassed and I have started to notice that the sound is starting to get fairly muddy. Should I add a buffer some where? If so do I only need one and where do I place it/them? Also can you guys recommend a very high performance buffer?
Thanks for all your help

Do you mean that it gets muddy even though everything is bypassed?  If you are using a straight-wire mechanical bypass, that ought not to happen (and is indeed the very REASON why purists like to use mechanical bypass instead of solid-state switching).  The only thing I can think of is that your patch cords are eating up high end in some way or that your bypass isn't as "true" as you think.

Resistive patch cables maybe? Sounds wierd. I use a Boss EH-2 to drive long cables, it makes the sound a little nicer and crisper so I leave it on all the time.
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.
