How can i test an old tube?, well..in general, how can i test a tube to assure it's working ok?

the easiest way is to plug it into a known working circuit... if it works it works.  If not, then not.  Otherwise, an old fashioned tube tester would be in order.  Available on ebay if you have the $$$.  Or, if you have an old electronics/surplus store around they may still have a tube tester lurking in the backroom.  Make some phone calls and check it out.
