I'm depating as to whether or not I should go with the standard, switchcraft, for my 1/4" mono plugs, or go with the less-spoken of cheaper alternative, DGS.  In mouser, it'd be 84c apeice for the quantity of DGS I'd be ordering.  That's really cheap-but is the quality equally as cheap?  Just trying to make up my mind, and I know it's a stretch, but does anyone have any opinions on it?

5 months later, he's still wondering whether they're good or not, and does a search on mouser.  Quickly, he realizes that DGS HAS BEEN BOUGHT BY KOBICONN! which means very little, but he's still curious.

i cant vouch for their 1/4" plugs but i do know about 40%-50% of other stuff (mostly DC and other connectors) has failed or been unsatisfactory in one way or another with me...whereas i have had very little problems from switchcraft and neutrik stuff... prob means nothing to you, just my experience

I tried it. It works BUT, I've decided that Switchcraft is worth the extra few cents. There's nothing more frustrating than realizing that you are having problems because you decided to save a quarter or 2.

I recently bought a bunch of their 1/4 inch angle plugs to make patch cables with. They look kind of cheap inside but they appear to be functional. Soldering the ground wire directly to the metal casing required a lot of heating, but the cables seem to work fine.

Incidentally, I ended up ordering a bunch of Hosa angled adapters (with the 2 plugs in one) for my pedalboard instead. I'm not sure the quality of these plugs, but I can let you know how they work out if you're at all curious.

Thanks everyone.

It's actually 2 bucks, and when you're buying 20 or so of them $40 can make quite a difference to a student like me :)

Switchcraft at the local store is $1.35 a jack (stereo). $1.25 for mono.

Plugs, not jacks.

If you can find them, G&H plugs are an excellent alternative to Switchcraft.

I get them from CEDist.
