What does half a fuzzface sound like? OK!

Hi.

I built an EasyFace recently.  It's a kind of fuzzface, but with a pot controlling the input and the gain on the second (Ge) transistor maxxed out.  Anyway, it sounded quite good, but I had to really turn up the pre-gain to get much fuzz.  Didn't think about it until today, when I went back and looked at the pcb and found that I had taken the input to Q2 (ie the base) from the BASE, not the collector of Q1.    Q1 was being *totally* bypassed.

Amazingly, it all still sounded quite good (of course, it might sound better when I hook up Q1 tomorrow).  So there you have it - nice sounding fuzz out of the second half of a fuzzface/easyface.

I think that this would rate alongside Joe's easydrive as the simplest fuzz available.

cheers

PS I tested the circuit with AC188s with hFE from about 130 to 250.  The high hFE probably helped get more fuzz out of the circuit.

i assume half a fuzz would sound like a rangemaster.
