for such a simple build im really having a time figuring out why it wont work..tried everything-its getting power..q1,2, getting  around 3.2 but q3 is around 8.9? the meter shows mos the cirsuit is getting power except the area around the input 4.7m meets the .047 cap..nothing in that area. There is sound but no ring effect. I think i can hear some ring effect when i put my hand around the output jack..never heard one of these before though. There is also a noticable reduction in sound as well..Any ideas--

only thing that popped itnto my head what when you mentioned something about touching the output jack...

is everything grounded?

(never built this... and its out of my league... but its a shot)

I don't know if I can help much not being far off from a beginner.  The most common problems I've had in the past. are bridged solder conections and wrong parts like 100 ohms in place of 100k's and such.  It always seems to be something simple, just a matter of locating it.

I had one rang really neat, much less than unity. Something happenned to it.
Built one last week, much less than unity, seemed to ring there on the bench, but boxxed, the ring either went away or my amp changed the efkt.
Si diodes made for nice Fizz on the Fuzz, Ge's got it ringing for a day or so...and cut the output volume.
I don't know exactly how to do these is what I guess my point is/nt.
For best ring efkt the two 68k and 22k and diodes should all be matched, but I don't think this will increase output volume etc.
Octaves and Ringers...I have a Foxx Tone Machine, must be working right...very intense octave fuzz..high output too.
I didn't know it at the time, my bad luck with the Green Ringer turned out to be the best luck I've had with it so far, I should have put a gain recovery on it and boxxed it!!!
Must be hit or miss on this one, I've read reports from those who built it and really like it. Well so did I on that first one...it was so cool...I shudda...

I might have figured it out-- i have a 4m7 in place of the 160k accid..i be that will fix it though.. i just now chked it w an online resistor calculator and found that...

petemoore- hows the  Foxx Tone Machine differ from the tychobrahe? I bought a voodoo labs proctavia--sounds almost just like the Tycho except  its quiet when strings arent hit v/s out of control Tycho--i really like them both though--but so far- and by far-- my fav effect is the Proctavia--sounds awsome w distortion/overdrive!! A definite must get/build/buy!

I think that fix will do it--so its time to bag it and tag it-- and move on to the next build..until one day i can afford some good hammond boxes.

Has less 'ghost tone' and gives direct hard octave.
Some People prefer it of course, but I like the Softer Edges and drifty harmonics/Ghost tones that appear and fade in/out the way the Octavia or the Green Ringer does.
I have yet to build an Octave I'm totally satisfied with.
I know they're funny little widgets, and depend on this or that to work a certain way, I just havent boxed one yet that I really use that much.
Green Ringer has it in there, I had it comeing out of it once or twice, haven't managed to get that Ghost Tone sealed in a box yet to where it dependably works, at unity or above.
Actually I built a couple Bobtavias that I thought were pretty cool.
I tried a Neo Octavia, but it didn't work...Hafta dig that one up and see if I can debug it now.
