That's too much! Now there's some interesting ad lines! Boy George never sounded better! Might help Van Halen's next singer.   As far as the effect goes, nothing amazing. They could have just  modeled me my first year playing. lol

Eric Barbour is a wizard, a tube shaman of the highest order. :D

It's amazing to me that he now makes such horrid sounding devices. I love it! 8)

I wonder if it contains thyratrons? ;)

I cracked up for about two minutes when I realized what that "beautiful music" was. I think Boy just got tonally hurt.

Take care,

Hey.... is this a TS-21 in a different box with a different name and DOD style control names?  :?:

Awesome-looking pedal.   The sounds remind me alot of my John Hollis Crash Sync Drive.   That Boy George track gett'n hurt was pretty funny.

Mark Hammer

Um......interesting......but those sound samples approximate what many people will post when they write in to say "My Tube Screamer clone isn't working right.  Do you know what could be wrong?".

Wouldn't it be just cheaper and easier and more of an adventure to give a newbie the parts for a Fuzzface and ask them to get drunk and then make it?

QuoteRainbow Brite and her little Smurf friends all deserve to be raped and murdered, and the Agonizer is willing to help.

hmmmmmmmm......  this guy must have written the lyrics for the last slipknot album.

Paul Marossy

It makes some interesting sounds, that's for sure. The guy obviously doesn't care about stepping on anyone's toes...

Boy, you guys think Z.Vex gets steamed, post this guy's schem & see what happens! I'd actually like to see what happens. I'm a bit bored lately.

Squelchy Squarewavey Oscillatey Fuzzy Fuzz...YUM...Sign me up!

Eric Barbour used to be the applications engineer for Svetlana USA before that company imploded. He's also written a ton of great stuff for the tube DIY folks.

I have dial up so i cant hear it ..but i really like the box design! the chicks!! rocks! DONT CARE FOR YELLOW THOUGH.. I would have chosen a diff color-- but i look at these effects as more of functional art rather than just a tool for shaping the sound..Tubes though!! Rocks! For some reason im a sucker for a pedal w tubes..Puretubes stuff rocks!!!! I was dissapointed to read a thread that my new Tonebone Hot British is a Tube screamer w a 12ax7..owell..i havnt heard it yet..still missing a power supply for it..

anyway--atleast the effect looks cool!! to me anyway!

What?????

Peter Snowberg

Thanks for pointing that out 1wahfreak.   I didn't read the copy before.

I just lost ALL respect for Eric Barbour.

The samples do sound a lot like what you get when the voltage at the collector of Q2 on your Fuzz Face is low.

I like the satirical ad copy. Many people seem to miss the joke(s), though, which is not their fault. Americans don't generally see this level of irony, especially in advertisements.

Could be. The copy isn't even funny though.  It seems he tried a little too hard and may have made a couple mistakes in the process.

I think the screams of drunken newbies burning themselves on soldering irons would be good compared to this pedal ...

puretube

QuoteThere’s no transistors, no silicon chips and no damn Sovtek 12AX7s in it either

though that statement is among the "funny" jokes in the ad,
I doubt that Mr. Barbour wrote all that sh*t himself.

cedric

if you take the most normal person you could find, only has pedals and gear of what he sees advertisements for, only know about sovtek as the only tube company  etc.. etc.. the ad here is against people like him, stuck in the norm.
i bet a goofy white redneck would have a problem with his kids becoming "negro's".
i bet he would be pissed if there were no JRC4885 in his pedal.

i fully understand the irony/sarcasm actually, in the ad. and i'm sure SOME americans do to ;)

freeradical24

i get it but its still in bad taste.
not to mention the fact that whether or not its meant to be amusing.the person who masterminded this marketing scheme is idiotic.they took it to far and i think they managed to alienate most of their target demographic.at least the intelligent portion.
