I just did a Keeley Ds1 Ultra Mod (minus extra LED) but I wanted to used a 5mm LED for the clipping, but the one I have doesn't light up at all when on batteries (7vish), and only very slightly on a 12v PS.  The thing is I want to use a 5mm LED since I already drilled a hole for a 5mm LED (silly me doing that first). Are there any particular 5mm LEDs around suitable for clipping in seeingeye/Ultra ds1  mod? If not is there a possible mod to get the 5mm LED lighting up more (preferably not running ds-1 on a 16v powersupply)?

hey mate,

well, ive never been too knowledgeable about the electronics of LED's.... but if putting a smaller led in lights up more - maybe you can just get a bezel type holder that fits a 5mm hole, but takes a smaller (3mm) size led...

not exactly sure on how this works, but if smaller leds work - you can give it a try - and by the way, the little led holders make quite a pro look in my opinion.

If you can get your LED to light at 12V, you can probably get a superbright, high-efficiency LED to light at 7V.  Try some Of Smallbear's stock.

Of course, if your current LED is already >5000 mcd, then you probably don't have much in the way of options.

At worst, you could always install a switch in that hole to change between diode types.
